The invention of film had fundamentally changed the lives of the rural population. It was no longer the changing seasons that determined working conditions, but the shooting schedules of film productions. For the duration of a film shoot, the entire population of the surrounding area was tirelessly occupied with the creation of prop images. When the last clapperboard has been shot and the film crew has disappeared, the time for idleness begins. Young and old alike bustle through the streets, enjoying their newfound free time and celebrating it with cheerful bonfires. These bonfires not only warm the hearts and souls of those celebrating, they are also visible from afar as a sign to fresh film crews that there is free capacity here. And so the circle is soon closed with a new film production.
